Excellence From The Start

When it came to opening a new store Malcolm McKibben, the owner of Pick ‘n Pay Louis Botha, had many decisions to make, the choices were overwhelming and all the tasks associated with opening a new store seemed never ending. But when it came to choosing a refrigeration system that would work best for him he went straight for excellence.

Malcolm used the experience and knowledge that he had gained from his time revamping around 30 Pick ‘n Pay stores as a Project Manager for Pick ‘n Pay. He had being involved with the installation of two plants previously where Copeland EVI Energy Saving Multiplex systems from Metraclark were used & immediately recognized the opportunity for efficiency and reliability. The system included a hot water recovery, Alco electronic expansion valves, Dixell intelligent defrost and Dixell monitoring and control system, specifically designed and built by Recam for his store.

When he decided to go with this intricate refrigeration system, I don’t think he realized the full potential & trustworthiness of the system. Key elements to this project were choosing the right equipment in the Copeland EVI Scroll Multiplex, supplied by a trustworthy supplier like Metraclark who are able to support the products supplied and using a competent, trustworthy contractor such as Jimmy McIntosh from Everest Refrigeration. This has resulted in a reliable system that has cost him only R10 000 in the last three years in maintenance.
