Important Customer Notice: Refrigerant Buy-Back
Effective 1 September 2026
Thank you for your continued support of our refrigerant recovery, reclamation and sustainability programme.
Since launching our refrigerant buy-back programme in August 2025, we have continued to review and refine
the process to ensure that we provide our customers with a reliable, sustainable and efficient recovery and
reclamation service. Metraclark branches carry 8 kg and 45 kg recovery cylinders for this purpose.
We would like to inform you of an important change to Metraclark’s refrigerant buy-back programme for
recovered refrigerant returned in A-Gas recovery cylinders.
New Buy-Back Rates
Effective 1 September 2026, Metraclark will introduce separate buy-back rates for HCFC and HFC
refrigerants:
• HFC refrigerants: R35.00 per kg
• HCFC refrigerants: R55.00 per kg
Recovered refrigerant cocktails can still be returned to Metraclark for reclamation. However, no buy-back
payment will be made for refrigerant cocktails.
A2L Refrigerant Safety
Please note that our recovery cylinders must not be used for the recovery of A2L refrigerants. Using
recovery cylinders for A2L refrigerants may present a safety risk to you, our employees and the surrounding
community.
Where recovered refrigerant is successfully reclaimed, ES certificates will be issued.
These changes will apply to both Metraclark Credit Account customers and registered External Cash
customers.
